Lightning strikes kill five people in Karnataka

Heavy rains lashed Karnataka on Sunday, causing fatalities in some areas. Three people were killed in Chitradurga when lightning struck them and five were injured, according to reports.

According to The Hindu, Manjunath (52) was killed and Narasingappa injured at Dagge village. Basanna (28) was killed and Doddaiah injured in Molakalmur taluk. Umesh (28), a farmer, was killed in the fields at Tekalvatti.

19-year-old ITI student Ravishankar was also struck lightning in a field at Pavagada and died. Meanwhile, in Madhugiri taluk 50-year-old Anjanappa died.

Karnataka is likely to receive heavy rains over the next few days as well.
