On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, magician Nagendra Prasad enchanted students with various tricks up his sleeve (pun intended), educating them about the hazards of smoking at the same time.

At Hombegowda School of Boys and Girls, he cast a spell on the students. And when he had their attention, he interspersed his tricks with short talks on the evils of smoking. While he did dole out pure entertainment—what with making a woman float in the air—he also gave a sincere talk on what cigarette-addiction can do to one. “You’ll  think you are perfectly fine, smoking and living your life, and you may not even know that you have cancer. One day, by the time you realise that something is wrong and you go to the doctor, it may have spread and become too serious,” he said.

The magician told his captivated young audience it was his own experience that pushed him to take the cause of anti-tobacco movement seriously. He said that about 12 years ago, he used to perform in a pub, where many used to smoke, making him a victim of passive smoking six days a week. He said this environment affected his health so bad that he had a stroke. He said he chooses to impart the message to children because it is often at their tender age that one gets hooked on to these bad habits.
