The BBMP would be getting a total grant of Rs1,527 crore from the state government under a host of schemes.

The chief minister said that in addition to Nagarothana scheme, 13th Finance Commission scheme, State Finance Commission scheme, lake development scheme and chief minister’s special grant scheme, the BBMP would utilise its own resources to take up following projects during 2014-15.

For smooth traffic flow
It has proposed comprehensive development of selected arterial and sub arterial roads for smooth flow of traffic at an estimated cost of Rs500 crore. It is also proposed the widening of some of the important roads at estimated cost of Rs300 crore as per the master plan 2015.

“Construction of an elevated corridor from Basaveshwara Circle (Chalukya Circle) to Hebbal Junction at a cost of Rs1,100 crore will be taken up,” the chief minister said.

The budget also proposes construction of railway underbridges and overbridges at estimated cost of Rs200 crore in collaboration with railway authorities at important railway crossings in the city.

It also planned a comprehensive development of footpaths at estimated cost of Rs100 crore and development of important junctions at Rs100 crore and development of 12 main roads under Tender SURE model and other selected main roads at Rs300 crore and earmarked Rs250 crore for development of backward areas of earlier CMCs and TMCs within BBMP jurisdiction.

The budget also proposes the construction of underpass at Goraguntepalya on Tumkur Road Junction (NH-4) at a cost of Rs125 crore under JNNURM during 2014-15.  “Elevated corridor from ALISDA to BEL Circle at a cost of Rs191.86 crore will be taken up under JNNURM,” he said.

Water supply
Siddaramaish said a detailed project report would be prepared for providing water supply to 110 villages in BBMP are and work would be taken up with funding from external assistance agencies.

For protection of lakes
It also earmarked Rs100 crore for development and protection of 31 lakes. The budget proposes to implement new parking policy at an estimated cost of Rs10 crore and allocation of Rs100 crore for disposal and processing of solid waste.

Under Aranyikarana Hasiru Maale programme, comprehensive development of 39 lakes will be implemented at the cost of Rs100 crore. “Construction of Peripheral Ring Road at the cost of Rs5,800 crore will be taken up during 2014-15 with assistance from JICA,” he said.

Kempegowda Layout site allotment
“Formation of Nada Prabhu Kempegowda Layout is in progress and applications will be invited with in March 2014 for allotment of 5,000 sites. During 2014-15, about 5,000 sites will be formed and allotted to the public,” the chief minister said.
