After choreographing the team that has been bagging silver medals continuously for two years in 'Dance World Cup', Yashaswini Kedilaya has started teaching 'hip-hop' to the youngsters around the city. Kedilaya is also visiting government schools to train the students in the popular dance form.

Kedaliya, who has been teaching dance since eight years visits dance schools around the city to spread awareness on dance. According to her, Indians can learn New York style dance easily as their body structure supports it. Also in international dance competitions, foreigners will have cut throat competition with Indian dancers.

In July, Yashaswini with her team of eight students from city dance school participated in 'Dance World Cup' which was held in Portugal and won silver medals in junior duet hip-hop and junior national folklore. This was her second achievement, which according to her, motivated her to train new interested students.

"Today, many children are interested towards the Bollywood dance style as they could see it on TV screens. But there is no harm in learning other styles of dance as they teach the tradition and how to be with others. Even the hip-hop does it and from the prospective of a competition, the dance form has a wide platform," Yashaswini said.

"I have been spreading the awareness on hip-hop and popularising it among kids for various reasons. It will make them to keep fit, stress free and enthusiastic. But failure to cope up with studies and taking only dance as career without study would affect them. But many instructors do not give this message to students. I teach the dance form along with the message," she added.

Mentioning about her experience of taking part in international competitions, she said,"No one comes forward to support the young dancers and find it very difficult to take part in international competitions. Even though it is a glory to our country, government has not shown any interest in supporting us."
