HD Kumaraswamy
JD(S) is in the best position to reap the benefits of BJP’s failures. The party is all set to tap the anger of Vokkaliga community to improve its tally in the next assembly elections and play the role of a kingmaker.

Congress
Principal opposition party Congress couldn’t have asked for more for reviving its fortunes in the next assembly elections. But the grand old party could hope to cash in on BJP’s sins only if it puts an end to groupism within.

The common man
BJP MLAs had been complaining of late that a cautious CM was not releasing funds for any development  work. With a new leader in the saddle, Karnataka can expect forward movement  on pending issue — after all, elections are only months away.

DV Sadananda Gowda
Feces the ignominy of becoming jobless. The man who was forced to resign the Lok Sabha seat an year ago is likely to get a party post at the national level in BJP or made a member of the Rajya Sabha soon. Right now DVS is a member of state legislative council.

BS Yeddyurappa
Is happy having accomplished the mission, but the threat of a CBI probe into his corruption cases looms large on his political career. However, BJP leaders are eager to go for assembly elections under his leadership by making him BJP state president or Campaign Committee Chairman just before the polls.

Jagadish Shettar
His long time dream of becoming the chief minister will be realised soon. The Reddy brothers had propped him as CM candidate against BS Yeddyurappa in 2009. But that revolt fizzled out. In the rebellion of 2010, BSY managed to install DVS as CM, dashing Shettar’s hopes.

HN Ananth Kumar
Suddenly, he’s in circulation again. Nitin Gadkari had to ask Kumar to convince LK Advani and make him agree to Shettar as CM. Kumar can now demand his pound of flesh, if need be. BSY and Kumar’s rivalry is legendary — Kumar can easily checkmate BSY if he decides to get even with the former CM.

Other politicians
Are already salivating at the prospect of a Cabinet reshuffle. There’s talk of creating the Dy CM’s post and home minister R Ashoka has dropped enough hints by saying he is for “any role” that the high command gives him.
