Nippani Bandh:

The Nippani (a taluka in Belgaum) bandh call, given by Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti, opposing the removal of the controversial board had a mixed response on Monday.

The bandh however, received support from the Shiv Sena's Nippani unit. However, the it did not attract much attention from the general public, as they are busy celebrating Ramzan and Shravanamasa.

According the police, the shops remained closed in the town, but were back to business by evening. Police clamped prohibitory orders did not stop the MES activists from forcibly closing the shops. However, the intervention of police helped in reducing the clashes in the town.
