The first attack was in Kundapur in Udupi taluk when reporter of Vijayavani Kannada daily Srinath Hegde Hakladi was attacked by three persons, including the office-bearers of the Grama Panchayat on Feburary 2.

The second attack came on Harish Puthran a journalist in the Kannada eveninger Karavali Ale for his article against drug mafia. In the police complaint, the reporter has stated that a few workers of Hindu Jagarana Vedike  attacked him with clubs and choppers.
