If you thought car pooling is being done only be techies and MNC employees, then you are in for a surprise. Just go to the city civil court and sessions court premises before and after court hours, you may end up seeing judges and even magistrates sharing their vehicles with other judges and commuting to and from office.

According to sources, those who are coming from same area, take one vehicle and then share the cost. Many lawyers started car-pooling since early this year. Now with judges also embracing it, the trend is slowly catching up.

Ajay Kumar, an advocate says, " We, have been car pooling since many years. But the trend is slowly catching up among the judges also."

As per the lawyers practising in city civil courts, there are more than six to seven judges who pool a car. Saving money, cost and time is the reason why they are adopting this. Besides car pooling, there are also many judges who come to the court driving their own vehicles. This comes as a surprise to many since the judges and magistrates do have the right to hire a driver and reach office. According to the advocates, the initiative is because of some cost-cutting issues. "

The budget allocation is one major issue. Driving themselves to reach the court may be an extension of this," says an advocate. The advocates also add that all this while the trend was an in-thing among techies and MNC employees. "But when judges also does the same, it is indeed a welcome thing."
