Former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa will take a final call on withdrawing support to the Jagadish Shettar government at a core committee meeting of Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) on January 4.
Addressing participants of the ‘Vidhana Soudha chalo’ agitation organised by his party at Freedom Park, Yeddyurappa said Shettar’s ‘inefficient’ government had been reduced to a minority and it would collapse before the end of January.
Shettar and deputy chief ministers KS Eshwarappa and R Ashoka were away in Ahmedabad attending the swearing-in ceremony of Gujarat chief minster Narendra Modi. “KJP’s core-committee meeting is scheduled on January 4. There is widespread feeling that this government should not continue further as it is working against the aspirations of the people. In the meeting, party men will take a final call on whether the MLAs, who have identified with KJP, should withdraw their support to the government,” he said.
“During my state tour, people clearly told me that they don’t favour the continuation of the BJP government as it had failed to deliver. Hence, we have decided not to support it,” he said.
Throughout his speech, Yeddyurappa attacked Shettar. At the end, he asked the governor to intervene and dissolve the government which, he said, was indulging in fun and frolic.
