Former minister and BJP leader S A Ramdas allegedly tried to commit suicide by hanging at his residence in Gokulam in Mysore on Tuesday night. He reportedly took the extreme step following a woman accusing him of having physical relationship with her since five years but refusing to marry her.

On Tuesday evening,  Premkumari, an employee at Tumkur Deputy Commissioner's office, had told media that she had come in contact with Ramdas when he was the parliamentary secretary to former chief minister Yeddyurappa. "I had met him to request for a transfer and then we became close. He had also married me in a temple and his close followers know this. Recently I was transferred to Mysore but within three months Ramdas managed to transfer me to Tumkur. This was done as I was asking him to make our relationship public. If he wont accept our relationship in public, I will end my life," she said.

She had also said that she would release an audio tape, on Wednesday, in which she spoke to Ramdas about their relationship. However, when reporters contacted Ramdas about this, he had denied all the allegations.
But around 10.30 pm, he was rushed to a hospital by his car driver. It is said that he was shaken by the woman going to media about their relationship and tried to hang himself at his house. His driver who found him hanging brought him down and rushed him to hospital. He is said to be recovering.
