Bengaluru to host World Cancer Meet 2017

The Karnataka minister for health and family welfare UT Khader has announced that Bengaluru will host the World Cancer Meet 2017. A leading daily reports that Khader held meetings with leading cancer hospitals in New York during his official visit to the US recently. The meet will be held in association with the US Cancer Society. 

Khader also represented the state when he attended the three-day World Health Conference in New York. The former Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg organised this conference along with the UN, WHO and other organisations. 

At the conference, the minister spoke about the steps taken by the Karnataka government to curb smoking and the ban on gutka. He also spoke about the challenges the government is facing and how they are dealing with them. 

Cancer is now a notifiable disease in Karnataka. It's the third state in the country to do so.
