An angry crowd allegedly assaulted a drunk woman driver and her friend after she reportedly rammed into 3 vehicles on Residency Road in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The New Indian Express reports that Abhilasha Sethi, an NRI who lives in Yelahanka, was partying with her friends when one of them is said to have fallen and suffered an injury. Sethi and her friends were reportedly rushing him to the hospital at about 7 pm when she rammed into three cars.

As soon as two of the car drivers confronted Abhilasha, two of her friends reportedly left the scene. Then she and Himanshu, the injured person, were allegedly assaulted by the angry crowd.

The Asoknagar  police said a breathalyser revealed that Sethi's blood alcohol level was 140 mg, which is far above the permissible limit.

The drivers whose cars were damaged filed a complaint against her at the police station. However, Abhilasha and her friend then filed a complaint with the Ashoknagar police stating that they had been assaulted, adds the report. The two of them were taken by the police to Bowring Hospital to be treated for injuries.

They have been asked by the police to come to the station on Monday so they can record their statements.
