Repeated harassment by a delivery boy forced a Bengaluru resident to move out of the city, a leading daily reports. After ordering for food delivery in October 2014, Ankita (name changed) started receiving calls from different numbers from the delivery boy. Though she changed her mobile number, she still received calls from him.

She put out a tweet petition on Thursday asking for help and now has senior police officers reaching out to her, trying to help.

Ankita had used a mobile app to order from a restaurant in Koramangala. The delivery boy had come to give her the food and asked for water. She gave him a glass and he left. The report adds that he then called a few hours later, asking to be friends. Ankita says that this was probably because he realised she lived alone.

She first ignored the calls and blocked his number. She then informed the restaurant owner about the boy’s behaviour, who then made him apologise to her. The boy said that she had had mistaken her number for a friend’s. In her Twitter petition, she says she was flooded with calls from random numbers.

Ankita says was frightened and moved to a friend’s house for a few days. She later shifted to a different house. The calls then got nastier and, in August 2015, Ankita informed the Koramangala police. However, she alleges they didn't take any action.

She has now moved out of the city and the calls still haven’t stopped, she writes in her petition. Now a senior police officer from Bengaluru has contacted her and promised to take action.
