There are always small arguments over seats in buses or trains but in Bengaluru a 40-year-old man died in a fight over a seat.

Bangalore Mirror reported that on April 10 Hanumanthappa, alias Hanumappa (40), was travelling from Electronics City to Kengeri with his son and younger brother. His younger brother Hanumaiah got into an argument over a seat on the bus with a man and Hanumappa reportedly intervened.

As the fight got ugly, they were all asked to get off the bus. The man had attacked Hanumaiah on the bus. When all of them alighted at Doddathoguru cross in Electronics City, First Phase, the man allegedly attacked Hanumappa and the latter fell to the ground. People walking by intervened and sent the man away. Hanumappa, however, collapsed and was taken to Narayana Hrudayalaya.

Doctors there declared him brought dead and informed the police. The police thought it was a case of cardiac arrest but the post-mortem report revealed that Hanumappa died of "shock and haemorrhage as a result of blunt injury sustained to the abdomen".

The police have now filed a case of murder under Section 302 of the IPC against the man who attacked him as the death is likely to have been caused by his kicking Hanumappa in the abdomen. The daily adds that the attacker was identified as 34-year-old Manjunath, a resident of Vittasandrapaly. Manjunath has said that it was not his intention to kill Hanumappa.

Hanumaiah and Hanumappa's son, who are the witnesses to this incident, are now said to be evading the police. The police have reportedly found that Hanumaiah's address is false and are now wondering what actually happened. If the two don't turn up in the case as witnesses, then Manjunath will be acquitted, adds the daily.
