Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has found a permanent solution to the flooding of drain water on Vrishabhavathi River during monsoon. BBMP has decided to demolish the bridge that was constructed on Vrishabhavathi River to construct a new one, in order to facilitate smooth flow of rainwater into the storm water drain, during monsoon.

Speaking with iamin, Manjunatha Reddy, executive engineer, BBMP, said that the construction work would be completed in the next six months. Reddy added that the new bridge will have two 16-meter vents to ensure smooth flow of rainwater. This decision has come as a sigh of relief particularly for the devotees, who find it difficult to reach the Gali Anjaneya Temple, during the monsoon.

BBMP is expected to spend Rs 5.47 crore for demolishing the existing bridge. During the monsoon, Gali Anjaneya Temple often gets flooded with water from the overflowing drain, adjacent to it.

Meanwhile, the city traffic police have made arrangements for diversion of traffic on the stretch between Gali Anjaneya Temple and Karnataka Vidyuth Karkhane so that people do not suffer due to the work.
