Bangalore: Teenager nabbed for trying to molest 8-year-old

A teenager who allegedly tried to sexually abuse an eight-year-old girl in Madiwala on Saturday evening was nabbed by police the same night.

Mahesh (name changed), a resident of Jakkasandra and an assistant at a private company, is the accused.

Police said, the girl, a class three student, lives in the house adjacent to Mahesh’s. She and her friends were playing outside her house with a ball, which accidentally fell inside Mahesh’s compound. When the girl went in to retrieve it, Mahesh allegedly lured her with some sweets and took her inside the house.

“A few minutes later, the girl’s mother came out and found her missing. When she asked the other children about her daughter, they informed that she had gone to Mahesh’s house. The mother went to his house and peeped through the window and found him  undressing the girl. She immediately raised an alarm, following which Mahesh opened the door and fled from the scene.
The mother then took the girl to Victoria Hospital for medical check up and also filed a complaint, based on which Mahesh was nabbed at Venkatapura around 11 pm,” the police explained.
“It is not clear whether Mahesh is still is a minor. We are verifying his academic documents to ascertain his age,” the police added.

Student dies
A 21-year-old BBM student, who was admitted at MS Ramaiah Hospital by unknown people after he sustained serious injuries, died in the wee hours of Sunday.

Syed Salman was a student of MS Ramaiah College and a resident of J C Nagar, and police are yet to ascertain the cause of death. Salman’s father Syed Jaleel is a businessman. According to police, Salman had left home on Saturday evening, informing his parents that he was going to meet his friends. As he did not return till 10 pm, his father called him on his mobile phone and Salman said he would be home in 15 minutes. However, he did not return till midnight and about 2.30am, the staff of MS Ramaiah Hospital contacted Jaleel and asked him to come to the hospital immediately. An anxious Jaleel rushed to the hospital only to know that his son was in critical condition. Salman died at 4 am. “The reason for the death is not known yet. However, there was a swelling on his head and it is suspected that he might have met with an accident. Also, the person who admitted Salman to hospital, who identified himself as Nikhil, left the place immediately, leading to suspicion over the cause of death. We will know the reason only after we get the postmortem report,” the police said. Sadashivanagar police have a registered.

1 killed in road mishap
A 23-year-old software engineer was killed on the spot when he lost control over his motorcycle and crashed near HAL Helicopter Division on Vartur Main Road on Saturday night. Padal Suryanarayana Reddy is the deceased, while Gajjala Dheeresh Krishna, who was riding pillion survived with some injuries. The duo were classmates and had completed BE last year. The two got selected in a campus interview and were working in a company located at RMZ Ecospace on Maratthahalli-Sarjapur outer ring road. Police said Reddy and Krishna had gone to the railway station on Saturday evening to send Krishna’s bike to his native place. Reddy was reportedly speeding on the way back home and while passing near HAL Helicopter Division, another bike passing in front of them applied sudden brakes. Reddy, who tried to avoid hitting the bike, lost control over his vehicle and crashed. Though he was wearing a helmet, Reddy sustained head injuries and died on the spot while Krishna sustained injuries in his leg. Old Airport traffic police have registered a case.
