Technology major Microsoft has introduced ‘application insights’ for application developers, which aims to provide developers with data on how well their application is running, and how it is being used by customers.

S Somasegar, corporate vice president, developer division, Microsoft, says in an era where apps are the key to bringing all decision making and experiences to life on a variety of devices, “there is growing expectation placed on developers to deliver great application experiences.”

Application insights would collect data across development, test and production environments and capture availability, performance and usage data, thereby providing developers with a complete view of an application’s health.

Moreover, to help in improving productivity of developers, Microsoft has launched Visual Studio Online, and Visual Studio 2013.

“ Visual Studio 2013 and Visual Studio Online enable businesses to achieve results faster, more affordably and through more well-informed quality decisions,” says Somasegar. Visual Studio 2013, says Somasegar, carries features that will help developers get more productive.

While features like agile portfolio management help in managing large and complex workloads in an dexterous way, diagnostic tools enables developers to improve their applications by using them.

Somasegar says both Visual Studio Online and Visual Studio 2013 represent the beginning of a new era of modern apps development, “that combines a desktop integrated development environment with a rich developer services in the cloud.”
