Expenses on hospitalisation and medical treatment are the leading reasons for bankruptcy among poor families in India. Having identified the reason for most cases of these problems as lack of access to potable water, the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, is organising a two-day forum and workshop on affordable healthcare and water.

Starting Monday, the event seeks to engage, ideate and discuss how universal healthcare and access to clean water can be provided in India. It will be attended by stakeholders representing the government, NGOs, healthcare providers, hospital supplies companies and researchers, among others.

The event aims to enable participants share success stories and create models and frameworks that will improve coverage and affordable access to healthcare services and clean water.
