The seems to no dearth for encouragement given to start-ups in Bangalore, the start-up capital of the country. The latest offering on the anvil for promoting start-ups in the city is a forum exclusively for budding entrepreneurs who are in the 0-3 years category.
Entrepreneurs who have just started out, or those in the ideation stage, can now look forward to participating in the forum, which will give them access to a bootcamp, and later to an accelerator programme.
Called Anthah Prerana, the programme will recognise entrepreneurs for their vision, innovation, and not just their business viability.
“The programme will encourage entrepreneurs to create success stories. Winners of this programme will be able to participate in a three-day bootcamp, followed by a 90-day accelerator programme,” says Gayathri Sharma, director, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE).
“Even entrepreneurs who are at the ideation stage and are chalking out their ventures can participate. For the social enterprises, the ideas should have certain amount of financial viability and should be sustainable. It cannot be mere charity,” says Sharma.
However, the enterprises should be bereft of funding from angel investors or venture capitalists.
“The intention is to promote those who are at the initial stage and need support. Not those that already have funding,” says Sharma.
Start-ups can participate under four categories, namely social enterprises (India focused), social enterprises (global focused), commercial enterprises (India focused), and commercial enterprises (global focused). Anthah Prerana programme will also throw out 12 winners, three in each category.
Sharma says all 12 winners will then be attending a three-day bootcamp that will happen sometime in December, on the outskirts of Bangalore, “where they can interact and network with mentors, veterans, attend workshops; and receive feedback on their ventures.”
The bootcamp will be followed by a 90-day accelerator programme in Bangalore, where the start-ups can receive extended guidance and mentorship on taking their businesses ahead.
