Bangalore blast: When it all happened!

Wednesday morning turned out to be fateful for the 15 people when an explosion occurred in Malleshwaram near the BJP office in Bangalore.

They were taken to the nearest KC Genral Hospital where they were given initial treatment and were taken for further investigations.

Leesha and Rakshitha Sujay who were on a break from their CET coaching classes were severely injured when the bomb explosion occurred."We study at the Standard Coaching Centre. Our classes start at 6.30 am and go on till 12 noon.

We had a break in between and we had come out when the explosion took place. I fell unconscious and I was brought to the hospital," said Leesha, who has sustained compound fractures in her right leg.

Leesha's grandmother, Indramma who was weeping at Leesha's bed side said, "We are very scared. We have not hurt anyone, why should they hurt us? We are praying that our daughter gets well soon and doctors help her recover fast."Rakshitha Sujay who was also injured in the same manner said that she was experiencing severe pain. "The doctor has told me that I need to undergo an immediate surgery," she said.

Both Leesha and Rakshitha have sustained shock and have also been given trauma care treatment. "I was near an internet cafe close to the BJP office when I heard the blast. It was unexpected and sudden. I felt a shock wave which almost hit us. When we turned around to see what had happened, several people were on the floor along with Leesha and Rakshitha who are my friends from the CET Coaching Centre," said Sumaiah Ahmed Shariff a 17 year old student.

Many of the victims were given first aid and were admitted at the disaster management cell of the casualty ward in KC General hospital. "I heard a loud noise and before we could wake up to it, fire had engulfed the van we were in. I felt sharp objects piercing my back and arms," said Rame Gowda, a head constable who has been admitted at KC General hospital.

"I had no idea about the blast until my father Rame Gowda called me and told me to rush to the hospital. I was very worried but, I am glad now that he is fine," said Raghu Gowda, Rame Gowda's son.Chowdappa who was also a victim said that his legs were injured as they hit the seat due to the impact.

"When the explosion occurred, my feet hit the seat and now, they have taken an X Ray to see what injuries have happened. But, they explosion was very loud and most of us are having hearing loss," Chowdappa said.
Some of the victims who have complained of ear pain and hearing loss said that the impact was so loud that they felt the shock waves. "I was not sure what happened. It was so loud that I felt disoriented for a moment before I could fully understand it was a bomb blast," said Meenannanavar.
