Union minister of state, Shripad Yesso Naik, on Wednesday, inaugurated Ayush Arogya Expo 2015, at RBANMS Ground in the city. Art of Living's Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was the chief guest at the inaugural function.
Naik on the sidelines of the inauguration said that organising Arogya was an important promotional activity to create public awareness about Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and others. “It is a matter of great satisfaction that what began as a small initiative, in 2001, with the very first Argoya fair, has today grown into a country-wide phenomenon with more national and state Arogya fairs being organised throughout the year,’’ Naik said. Till january 2015, 35 state-level and 16 national-level Arogya fairs have been organised in the country. Apart from the 17th Ayush Arogya Expo 2015 in Bangalore, four other Arogya fairs have been scheduled this year. These will be held in Raipur (Chattisgarh), Guwahati (Assam), Jaipur (Rajasthan) and Bhubaneshwar (Odisha).
Speaking on the occasion, UT Khader, state health minister, advised farmers to grow more medicinal plants and promised all possible help from the state government in this regard to the farmers.
The four-day Ayush Arogya Expo is being organised in association with the state government and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Nearly 130 stalls have been put up to showcase Ayurveda products and eight other states are also participating in the event.
