The city police are examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed at seven traffic junctions on the route that the attackers of realtor P Dayananda Pai are believed to have taken before attacking him on Tuesday.

Pai, founder of Century developers, was shot at by four men on two motorcycles on Tuesday evening when he was near BMS College, Basavangudi. He escaped unhurt as his car’s glasses are bulletproof.

An investigating officer said they suspect that the attackers followed Pai from his office in Vasanthanagar. Therefore, the police have collected CCTV footage of all the traffic signals on the route from his office to BMS College, where he was attacked. They have collected the footage of cameras installed on the stretch from Chalukya Circle to Lalbagh West Gate.

Also, the police are trying to track the attackers with the help of mobile phone towers (phone call details are used to gather more information about the target). City police commissioner BG Jyothi Prakash Mirji has formed four teams to nab the accused and another team to collect the details about the land.

Sources in the police department said the case might be transferred to Central Crime Branch.

Meanwhile, Pai told the police that he does not own land in Devanahalli and that it belongs to a friend of his who is based in Mumbai.

After examining one of the bullets fired at Pai, experts of Forensic Science Laboratory told police that they were shot from a low-capacity, country-made pistol. In the wake of the attack, the police have appointed two gunmen for the realtor’s security, said additional commissioner of police (law and order) T Suneel Kumar.
