Amrita suspends official

Even as a student of Amrita Vidyalaya, who attempted to commit suicide on Wednesday, is battling for life at a private hospital, the management suspended the administrative officer Naushad Khan for harassing her and other students.

Hostel wardens Kaveri and Manoj may also be removed from their post, it is said.
Students of the institute said the two were hand in glove with Khan in harassing students.

Doctors said Arati was responding well to treatment though she was still not out of danger. She is daughter of Chengappa, an estate owner from Coorg.

She attempted to commit suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the college building on Wednesday.
