Bagalur police arrested three youth in connection with the murder of a woman, who is suspected to have been killed by her live-in partner. Shyam, Chandrashekhar and Bharat, all aged 19 years, are the arrested, while the key accused, Harish, who was the woman’s live-in partner, is absconding.

Ganga Chandrashekhar, 38, was run Spandana, a home for orphans. Police said Ganga’s husband Chandrshekhar had passed away a few years ago. After that, she had entered into a live-in relationship with Harish, who was working in her orphanage. They were staying in a house near Hoovunayakanahalli in Bagalur. Ganga’s body was found in a ditch by the roadside in Hoovunayakanahalli in the wee hours of January 4.

“Investigations revealed Ganga’s relationship with Harish and he was missing after her murder, leading the police to suspect his role behind the murder. Further, it was learnt that they had a strained relationship. The probe thereafter confirmed Harish’s role in the murder. Based on various clues, the three accused were picked up and they confessed to have strangled her to death while she was asleep in Harish’s room in Tumkur and later dumped the body near Hoovunayakanahalli,” the police said.

Harish is a rowdy sheeter in Bagalur station.
