BC Mylarappa is sure of getting a Congress or JD(S) ticket

Forced to quit as the registrar of Bangalore University, BC Mylarappa is now in the thick of political battle to clinch a ticket either from the Congress or the JD(S).

Mylarappa has submitted a 27-page booklet explaining his achievements and qualification to impress the Congress leadership to clinch the ticket from Mahadevapura (SC) reserve constituency.

Even before the Congress announcing the candidate, Mylarappa has already prepared his campaign plan for the constituency.

It is said that Mylarappa is facing stiff competition from the senior leaders of the Congress Yallanna, AC Srinivas and Rajanna, who are also trying for the ticket. It is also said that the present IAS officer K Shivaram is another strong contender for the ticket from Mahadevapura.

According to sources, Shivaram has decided to obtain voluntary retirement from government service. However, 48-year-old Mylarappa claims that he is the most educated among the ticket aspirants. Sources also explained that the KPCC president G Parameshwara was in support of Mylarappa’s candidature. However, Mylarappa has kept his options open.

“I want to contest from a party which is committed for secularism. The Congress is the best choice for that,” he said. However, he also dropped enough hints to suggest that he is ready to contest from the JD(S), if given a ticket.

When asked why he moved from the BJP to the Congress, Mylarappa said, the Congress is the only party which can provide ‘moral courage’ to weaker sections of society.

“I have disconnected from the BJP and the RSS. I was not the member of the party at
all.The BJP leaders offered me ticket to contest in the previous election and I accepted the offer,” he explained.

Mylarappa further stated that he would focus on education and employment of locals based in Mahadevapura if elected. Mylarappa also expressed confidence that the recent high court order sacking him from the post of Bangalore University registrar would not hamper his political ambitions.
