The Pune court on Saturday deferred the hearing of the bail application of journalist Deepak Shenoy, who has been arrested by the Pune police and detained in Yerwada jail over cheating case.

The Pune court on Saturday deferred the hearing of the bail application of journalist Deepak Shenoy, who has been arrested by the Pune police and detained in Yerwada jail over cheating case.

The hearing was to come up on Saturday in Pune court, but for some reasons, it has been deferred and will come up for hearing on Wednesday.

Shenoy was arrested following a complaint of cheating by Pune-based Metachem, a company dealing in ore. Shenoy had also filed a counter-complaint against the company, stating that the company had created a dummy company to frame him.

Shenoy’s relatives who live in Belgaum told DNA that he had been lodged in the Yerawada jail for more than three weeks, which is unusual for a cheating case. The family alleged that there had been attempts to muffle his voice and pressure built up on  him to turn hostile as he was an approved witness in Belikeri ore muddle, which the CBI is investigating.
