The Hebbal police filed a charge sheet regarding Kannada actress Hemashree’s murder before the chief metropolitan magistrate (CMM) court on Tuesday.
Additional commissioner of police (law and order) T Suneel Kumar said that the police have filed a chargesheet against her husband Surendra Babu, main accused in the case, and his driver Satish.
The police had arrested Surendra Babu on October 9, based on circumstantial evidence, and later picked up the driver from Goa, where he was hiding. On October 8, Surendra Babu had asked Satish to take the couple to Hyderabad.
The police suspect she had been administered chloroform even before the couple set off for Hyderabad. After reaching Ananthapur, Babu asked Satish to drive to a farmhouse, where they duo carried an unconscious Hemashree into the room.
Surendra Babu told Satish to return to Bangalore and since then the latter was missing.However, Surendra Babu brought Hemashree to Baptist Hospital after the employees of the farmhouse asked him to leave their as they felt something was fishy.
The doctors at the Baptist Hospital declared her brought dead and informed the jurisdictional Hebbal police, who first registered a case of suspicious death and later, convert it into a case of murder.
The postmortem report confirmed that repeated administration of chloroform is the cause of death and Surendra Babu later confessed before the police that he made her sniff chloroform a couple of times to stop creating a hue and cry during the journey to Ananthapur.
