Bangalore University heats up as new war begins

The post of Bangalore University registrar (administration) which remained vacant for a day after the removal of BC Mylarappa led to heated arguments between acting vice-chancellor NA Rangaswamy and the registrar of evaluation RK Somashekar.
Sources said Somashekar was hoping to be appointed as in-charge for the vacant post.

But Rangaswamy decided to give it to someone else.
During the arguments, between the two. Late on Friday night, Somashekar called Rangaswamy and questioned him over his sudden change of stand.

This led to heated arguments in which personal comments were exchanged, a university source said on the condition of anonymity.
At the syndicate meeting held on Thursday, Rangaswamy had announced that Somashekar would be in-charge registrar (administration). However, on Friday evening, he changed his decision and handed over the charge to Kemparaju, director of planning of the monitory and evaluation board (PMEB).

When contacted, Somashekar said: “The announcement was made in the syndicate meeting and the vice-chancellor said the charge will be given to me. And he was asked to sign the note sheet forwarded by engineering department as registrar. I don’t know why it was changed at the last moment.”

“Nowhere in the history of Bangalore or Mysore university or any university in the state a PMEB director was made in-charge,” Somashekar said.
