A sessions court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of French consulate official Pascal Mazurier, who is behind bars on charges of raping his three-year-old daughter.
The court rejected the bail plea on the grounds that the investigation was not over yet and thus it was not the right time to entertain his request. The court observed that lab reports of tests had not come yet. Moreover, preliminary investigation indicates that there is a prima facie case against Mazurier.
The prosecution said even the girl has identified Mazurier as the culprit by pointing her finger at him when she was asked who assaulted her. Also, even their housemaid has told the police that the French official was with his daughter behind closed door for quite a while on the day of the incident. The police had recently summoned the maid for questioning.
Taking all the views into consideration, the court observed that it would not be correct to grant bail to Mazurier at this point of time.
