Asia's one of the largest automobile event, auto expo 2018 has begun in Greater Noida on Wednesday. While the entry for general public would start from February 9, February 7 and February 8 had been reserved for the media.

On its first day, i.e on Wednesday, South Korean automobile manufacturer garnered maxium eyeballs with its Indian debut at the 14th edition of Auto Expo 2018.

Kia motors would launch their first car in September 2018. This year's auto expo would be larger than ever, much bigger than the one in 2016.

Auto Expo 2018 would witness around 24 automobile launches and over 100 unveiling of various products inclusing the two-wheeler and four-wheeler both.

With its grand presence this year, there are many brands that chose to skip the event entirely. The brands that would not attend the Auto Expo 2018 would be Royal Enfield, Jeep, Volkswagen Group’s Audi and Skoda, Harley-Davidson, Triumph Motorcycles, Jaguar Land Rover and models from motorcycle maker Bajaj Auto Ltd.

It is yet to be seen whether the absence of above mentioned brands would have any impact on the head counts this year but one thing that has been cleared that this year's flavour at the auto expo 2018 is the environment-friendly trend of electronic vehicles.

With green technology as the theme of Auto Expo 2018, brand like gMaruti Suzuki India Ltd, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, and Tata Motors Ltd have showcased their stronger presence in the field.

The imprint of electric vehicles could be seen at virtually every pavilion at the Auto Expo on Wednesday, but automakers expressed the need of a firm electric vehicle policy to address the issues in adoption of the new technology.

Electric mobility seems to be the flavour of this year's auto expo with companies including Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Motors, Toyota, Hyundai, BMW and Mercedes Benz lining up showcases and launches as the country gear towards shift towards eco-friendly vehicles.

The move is also in line with the government's mission of having only electric vehicles being sold by 2030.

As many as 65 products including EV concepts, and 14 new models, were unveiled by Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia Motors, Tata Motors, Renault, Honda and other automakers on the first day of the expo.
