The much awaited 12th edition of DNA Auto show which will showcase some of the latest and the best in the automotive segment is all set to kick-start from this Saturday. The two day event will be held at CIDCO Exhibition centre in Vashi, Navi Mumbai.

According to the organisers, some of the biggest brands in the car and two-wheeler segments including Maruti, NEXA (Maruti's premium platform), Volkswagen, Skoda, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Tata Motors will be displaying their latest products and upgrades for the automotive lovers to see, test drive and even purchase on promotional discount price. Semi-classic imported cars and accessories will also be on display.

DNA Auto show is increasingly gaining popularity among the residents of Mumbai and Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) with the previous editions drawing thousands of footfalls each day, the organizers added. "I visited the event last year along with my family and had a fabulous experience. It helped us in zeroing on our first car which we bought a few weeks later," said Mithun Roy, an interior designer based in Andheri.

The Indian automotive industry (including component manufacturing) which is amongst the fastest growing in the world, according to Central Government, is estimated to reach Rs 16.16 – 18.18 trillion by the year 2026. More than 25 million automobiles were produced in the country during the FY 17. The spur in growth is primarily attributed to the rise in income, and a booming middle class and young population, claim the industry observers.

Further, an industry report prepared under the authorship of Madan Sabnavis, the Chief Economist at rating agency CARE on Monday said, "The 2-wheelers segment leads the Indian Automobiles market with 80% market share owing to a growing middle class and a young population. This is followed by the Passenger Vehicle (PV) segment with 14% market share."

The first five months of the current calendar year has seen both the car and two-wheeler makers launching a slew of new and upgraded models in the country. For example, the country's sixth largest car maker Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) last week commercially launched mid-size sedan called Yaris. ? Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) launched its second generation Honda Amaze in Maharashtra. Similarly, the country's largest luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz India recently introduced the Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 4MATIC Coupe 'OrangeArt' Edition and the SLC 43 'RedArt' Edition. Further, market leader Maruti and Tata Motors have also updated their compact SUVs with an AMT transmission.

Similarly, in the two-wheeler category, the world's oldest motorcycle brand in continuous production, Royal Enfield on Tuesday launched the Classic 500 'Pegasus' limited edition motorcycle. The 'Pegasus' is inspired by the legendary RE/WD Flying Flea 125 motorcycle that was manufactured at Royal Enfield's underground facility in Westwood, UK during the World War II. Chennai based TVS Motors strengthened its presence in the motorcycle and scooter segments with launch of TVS Apache RR 310, TVS NTORQ 125 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and refreshed product portfolio.

The organizers added that event will also have contests, quizzes and other games apart from the exciting prizes to be won. There will be live entertainment and food stalls for a complete family entertainment fiesta while the automobile enthusiasts browse for their favourite set of wheels.
