Nearly 80 manufacturers of components from the automobile sector have expressed their desire to set up their units in Gujarat, said industry sources. The move will consolidate Gujarat's position as a key hub for manufacturing automobiles in the country. Sources said vehicle manufacturers are also open to explore the capabilities of auto vendors based out of Gujarat.

Close to 150 auto component manufacturers, both Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers, are coming to Gujarat to enable creation of a strong automotive ecosystem in the state, said Vinnie Mehta, director general of Automotive Component Manufacturers Association, which is organizing its 'Value Chain Summit' that will begin on Friday at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhingar.
