Four words that inspire. Four words that are positive. Four words that make a difference. Four words that ought to be a part of our DNA.
On the occasion of our 4th anniversary today, we at DNA Pune wish to celebrate with our readers the spirit of creativity, innovation, enterprise and leadership, all of which encapsulates the ethos of Pune.
Traditionally acknowledged as a seat of learning and as the cultural capital of Maharashtra, Pune is also the cityof innovation and enterprise, big and small. It is the city of the Nano— the world’s cheapest car, and the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope, innovatively designed as the world’s largest. As our special coverage will reveal, a clutch of IT start-ups and firms specialising in nanotechnology are now beginning to redefine the capabilities of the people of this city.
Whether it is music, literature or theatre, there’s a lot that has happened and is happening in Pune. With a handful of design schools and a dozen top-ranking design studios, Pune is also emerging as one of the prominent design hubs of India. There’s leadership, enterprise, innovation and creativity in all of this and that is what we wish to celebrate.
Embrace these four qualities and you are bound to be rewarded richly. That is the message of Steve Jobs, who spectacularly and innovatively fused cutting edge technology with aesthetics, making Apple an unparalleled world leader.
As the city of SL Kirloskar and DS Kulkarni, Jayant Narlikar and RA Mashelkar, there’s vigour, vision and vitality in Pune. These qualities are valuable for our future generations and this is what we wish to discover in our midst, acknowledge and celebrate.
While doing so, let’s also remember that life can become a pleasant and enjoyable journey if even work can be turned into play, so to speak. That’s what Jobs did. That’s what Bill Gates did. And that’s what defines all the top-performing icons of today—be they the music composers Ajay-Atul, the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar or the multi-faceted Dr Anil Awachat.
It’s no point getting bogged down by work. If you can make your hobby, your calling or your passion your source of livelihood, then the sky is the limit. Do what you love. Love what you do. Let’s make this approach to life a part of our DNA!
