Smith will take SA to greater heights

South Africa became No 1 Test team for the first time in 2009 but they could hold on to the position for only a few months. This time around, Graeme Smith will consolidate and strengthen his team’s position even further.

Only a 1981 born could have displaced Andrew Strauss. Graeme Smith has Uranus and ‘Planet-Y’ exalted in his horoscope exactly like Roger Federer, Iker Casillas or a Dhoni. This extraordinary phenomenon would make the South African achieve a few feats that would be rare and class acts. As he no longer plays Twenty 20s for his country, he becomes a dangerous opponent in the Test arena.

The path is not easy though. The Graeme Smith-led South Africa would meet a resurgent Australia, unpredictable Pakistan, a strong Sri Lanka and a classy India en route to retaining their crown. Expect South Africa to beat Pakistan and Sri Lanka easily. India too would struggle as their skipper would meet an astrologically equal opponent in Graeme who has a few more glories to achieve, while he himself has achieved all that he possibly can.

The only man who can topple Graeme from his No 1 position is Michael Clarke, another 1981-born. The battle later this year between the two generals would be a classic contest.

Expect Graeme to relinquish his position at the top when the two meet again in 2014. Till then, the left hander would rule the roost. In 2013-14, expect a smart Twenty 20 franchisee to hire the 100-Test veteran as their captain and he would repose their faith by powering the team to some extraordinary successes.
