True Education

“…it is not so much academic education, as a moral and spiritual culture, which lifts one higher” wrote Christian theologian Mary Baker Eddy.

True education is more than mere accumulation of knowledge to pass examinations and find well-paid employment. Rather it is about bringing out the spiritual goodness within each of us -- the intelligence, understanding, perception that has been placed within us by our divine Creator.

“All your children will have God for their teacher” (Bible).

Real learning takes place under divine direction – the all-knowing Mind informs, guides and inspires us individually to discover the best way to grasp the wonders of creation. 

This develops our abilities, enlarges our sense of identity and keeps us on high moral ground. We are then able to fulfill our divinely designated purpose, to make unique contributions to the world.

Listening for divine inspiration, parents will be guided to what’s best for children; students to choose courses that combine interest, ability and opportunity for growth; educators in planning and teaching; administrators in best policies to promote true education.

In light of controversies surrounding education and educational institutions, now is a good time to consider the role that spiritual listening can play in ensuring everyone gets a good education.
