With most people, especially in India, meditation has always been a very serious affair — forcing themselves to sit for long hours and torturing their body. For what? For self-realisation. This has been their way to transcend the body and have an experience of the soul. In general, the search for the soul has been against the body. This has been the most pathetic aspect of meditation, widely practiced here. Osho rejected such a juice-less meditation and said this was a suicidal path of meditation. He says: Meditate-Celebrate and rejoice in your being. Do not torture you body, as this very body is the Buddha.

“I celebrate myself, and I hope soon the day will come when you will be celebrating yourself. With thousands of people around the earth celebrating, singing, dancing, ecstatic with the divine...with such festivity and with such laughter, with such sanity and health, with such naturalness and spontaneity, how can there be a war?
