How feasible, fair, is the order for Bihar officials?

How feasible, fair, is the order for Bihar officials?
Nitish Kumar

The Nitish Kumar government has not done much for the state. Development in Bihar has come to a standstill. For an illusion of movement, they resort to stunts to remain in the news. This should not be mistaken for public welfare. The order for officials to not drink outside Bihar as well as the country is meaningless, and not feasible at all. The state lacks law and order, corruption is rife, there isn’t much in the way of development and prohibition has failed. People resort to bootlegging and the police are making gains from it. Indulging in antics will not help the state. Government schools in Bihar need seven or eight teachers and are equipped with an average of only two. Primary health care is lacking. There is so much to be done in these fronts, and yet the focus remains on alcohol consumption.
RK Singh, Lok Sabha MP for Bihar and former Union Home Secretary

The Bihar Government Servants’ Conduct Rules, 1976, prohibiting government officials from boozing is ridiculous. The Bihar government must  clarify the interpretation of its new rule. There is a lot of confusion over the rule. When there is total alcohol prohibition in Bihar, what is the need for the amendment stating that no government servant shall consume intoxicating drinks or drugs? And if they are drinking in other states or country, won’t they be governed by the laws of the land there? If the notification means that government servants cannot drink liquor outside Bihar, it is ridiculous as the state government cannot enforce such foolish decisions. How will they know about it? It is impossible to implement it. (As told to Vithika Salomi)
Sushil Kumar Modi, BJP leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister

I think the order forbidding state officials from having a drink outside the state is a joke. The order is neither just nor enforceable. You are also equating drinking alcohol to something you do in secret, like stealing. An undemocratic and fascist order made by a once democratic leader who has lost all sense of proportion and Grace. It is sad to see the once beacon of light for Bihar being reduced progressively into a ‘Modi-Lite’.
