Why? This humble three-letter word gives wings to the spirit of enquiry. The ‘why’ is the wheel of revolution and the agent of change. The ‘why’ has taken us to space, to the bottom of the ocean and into the heart of Matter — living or dead. We think, therefore we are, and it is the ‘why’ that goads us to introspect, challenge, discard and embrace ideas.
But why talk of the ‘why’ now? Because it is time to question our indifference and the erosion of values? Why such poverty, why such economic divide? Why this mad race to earn more wealth? Why do villages perish, and the cities become the focal point of human migration? Why do we encourage such a competition that doesn’t demand fair play? That allows us to look the other way when we find an accident victim bleeding to death on the road, or turn a deaf ear to a helpless girl’s screams when she is harassed or raped?
The answers could be blowing in the wind, but, curiously, the winds aren’t powerful enough to drive home the answers. So DNA has stepped in to ask Why? Why have we become so de-humanised? Why have we allowed things to come to such a pass? The Why debates will ask questions, and propose solutions. You, madam, and sir, will have to speak up, if you want to be part of the change.
And, why not?
