In recent times, Patel fury in Gujarat has troubled the ruling party BJP, especially in the assembly polls. Now, with the Lok Sabha polls scheduled for next year, the saffron party is planning to pacify the community with the help of the name of Sardar Patel. One of the largest vote bank communities, the Patidars or Patels, have had deep faith in the leader.

The Gujarat government is planning to hold a march in October which will conclude at the Statue of Unity on Sardar Patel's birth anniversary. The march will traverse the state of Gujarat and PM Narendra Modi will also be present on this occasion.

A senior official in the government said, "The main formula of this yatra will be unity, as Sardar Patel's statue of unity will be unveiled by PM Narendra Modi on October 31 near Sardar Sarovar Dam. So, we would focus on uniting all kinds of folk at a time when the social fabric is becoming weaker in Gujarat due to differences between communities."

Besides Sardar Patel, the government will also celebrate the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the PM is also likely to visit Gujarat on October 2nd. The Gujarat government is expected to start celebrations fifteen days ahead and announcements will be made following Independence Day.

The state government will also engage the BJP's members in these activities so that the participation of leaders and workers would make an impression among the masses. The Gujarat government recently discussed these issues during the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday and a detailed presentation was made on the same for the celebration of the programme, said sources in the government.
