With transfer of Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case to Mumbai court from Ahmedabad, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has now reasons to demand two more fake encounter cases to be shifted outside Gujarat.

The two cases — Sadik Jamal and Ishrat Jahan encounter cases — are at present under investigation of the CBI as per the Gujarat high court order.

Over two dozen cops are under scanner in both encounters which was executed by the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB).

Suspended IPS officer DG Vanzara and few others are the common accused in both the cases. Vanzara is already serving a jail term jail for the past five years in connection with the Sohrab fake encounter case. He is also an accused in the Tulsi Prajapati fake encounter case.

The Supreme Court, on Thursday transferred Sohrab case to Mumbai as was demanded by the central probe agency. Highly placed sources connected to the case said that the CBI is conducting aggressive probe of the Sadik and Ishrat cases and once the investigations are over it can demand shifting of both the cases outside Gujarat.

The CBI has already arrested Mumbai-based journalist Ketan Tirodkar and encounter specialists cop Tarun Barot in the Sadik Jamal case. Arrest of other cops in Ishrat case are also on the cards. Interestingly both the cases have Mumbai connection.

Sadik was returning back to Mumbai from Dubai when he was allegedly handed over to the trigger happy cops by Mumbai encounter specialist Daya Nayak.

On the other side, Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case also harbours links to Maharashtra. Ishrat was a resident of Mumbra in Thane district and was working with Javed Sheikh alias Pranesh Pillai.
