Vibrant Gujarat Startup Summit to showcase Indian innovations

The upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Startup and Technology Summit will showcase local startups and innovators that offer technology solutions to problems specific to India, a senior state government official said here on Wednesday. The summit will also showcase next generation technology that will deeply impact day-to-day lives and revolutionise the manufacturing sector.

"There will be startups displaying precision agriculture, which can be useful for Indian farmers. Those offering solutions in healthcare will also showcase their solutions," said D Thara, vice-chairman and managing director of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) said, while announcing the three-day summit that will begin from October 11 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. Thara said that the summit will be an extension of the first edition of Startup Summit held in 2016, as a run up to the Vibrant Gujarat Summit of 2017. This time also it will be a part of a number of summits as a precursor to the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2019.

The focus sectors have been increased from two to eight and financial support has also been raised from Rs 40 lakh to Rs 3 crore, under the Grand Challenge for startups. She also said that startups is a promising sector for investment by Gujaratis, who are well versed in investments in the stock market.
