Vadilal Sarabhai hospital gets Rs164cr budget with 88% establishment cost

Out of the total allocation, around 88.24 percentage of the money would go for the establishment expanse, while for medicines there is a provision of Rs4.30 crore which is 2.61 percent of the total allocation

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) run, Vadilal Sarabhai (VS) Hospital allotted Rs164.98 crore budget allocation for the next fiscal, announced by mayor Gautam Shah on Wednesday.

Out of the total allocation, around 88.24 percentage of the money would go for the establishment expanse, while for medicines there is a provision of Rs4.30 crore which is 2.61 percent of the total allocation.

Mayor during the press conference, briefed media about their plans for the next financial year for the hospital. "We are going to buy medial equipment like anaesthesia workstation with multiple monitors, video bronchoscope, colour doppler sonography machines etc," said Shah.

"We are also going to spend some money for the renovation and repairs of the existing building units at the hospital premises. We are going to resurface internal roads, colour work at the main hospital building and at trauma centre, retrofitting and renovation work of maternity hospital etc," remarked Shah.

For the colour work and repairing, allocation of Rs166.5 lakh has made while for the medical equipment investment worth Rs118.6 lakh is sanctioned. Giving details about last years details on what the hospital has done, Shah said, "We have treated 153 swine flu patients free of cost at VS Hospital and laboratory test of 920 people were done at the hospital during 2017 when swine flu was at pick."
