ANAND :Eyes on you!
After Surat, Anand Nagarpalika has decided to install CCTV cameras at seven important junctions of the city. Proposed areas include Samarkha Chowkdi, Ganesh Chowkdi, Borsad Chowkdi, Grid Chowkdi, Sardarbaug police, railway and bus stations of the town. The move aims to enhance security in the town.

RAJKOT :Green College, Clean College
Commissioner of higher education, Jayanti Ravi, cleaned washrooms of PD Malviya College, Rajkot on Friday, as part of state government’s project of ‘Green College, Clean College’. Other dignitaries, too, participated in the exercise. The initiative will be implemented in all govt and grant-in-aid colleges.

PATDI :7-yr-old sodomised
Parents of a seven-year-old have lodged a complaint with local police that a 14-year-old boy sodomised their son. The accused took the victim to a deserted place on the village outskirts where he committed the crime. The child informed his parents when he returned home.

VADODARA :Man parted of his gold 
An employee with a courier company, Bharat Patel, was looted of 2kg gold, a cellphone and Rs2,870 in cash. He was onboard Saurashtra Janata Express when three people posing as fake police officers apprehended him. They frisked him in the toilet and took away his valuables.

CHIKHLI :Vehicles fail to notice dead body
In a gory incident, vehicles continued to run over the dead body of an unidentified man on NH8 near Chikhli, Navsari. It is believed that the man was killed in a road accident the previous night but his body went unnoticed on the busy highway. The body was moved after blood was noticed on the road the next morning.

:Trucks collide, catch fire  
Two trucks carrying sugarcane and cotton collided on Vapi-Shamlaji Highway, and caught fire due to the impact. Vehicular movement on the road was affected for three hours. A damaged diesel tank was reason for the blaze. Fire-fighters from Mandvi was called in to control the flames.

OLPAD :Student dies in road mishap   
Parth Desai succumbed to injuries he suffered after a truck rammed into his bike near Olpad, Surat. Desai was going to college with his sister when the incident happened. The impact was such that the girl was flung in the air but miraculously, suffered minor injuries. Desai died on the spot. The truck-driver escaped before police could reach the crime scene.

BHUJ :30 Pak intruders nabbed
Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday nabbed 30 Pakistanis in Padala Creek, Kutch. The intruders, who were travelling in three boats, were caught courtesy a special operation. They will be taken to Bhuj for a joint interrogation. It is feared that more intruders may be hiding in the creek or on an island.

PATAN :Trader duped of Rs13.30 lakh guar  
A guar trader in Sardargunj was duped of Rs13.30 lakh on Friday. As per his complaint with the police, a man used to buy guar from him on credit. He not only bought Rs11-lakh worth of the commodity, but also borrowed Rs2 lakh from the trader. When the latter asked for money, he was threatened of dire consequences if he tried to contact the crook again. It was then that the trader filed a formal complaint with police.

:Rapes continue unabated   
A 19-year-old was raped in a village near Gandhidham on Friday, when she had gone out to attend nature’s call. She had come to the town at her uncle’s place to attend a religious function. The accused has been identified as Ranjitsinh Jadeja, who kidnapped her on his bike and later, committed the crime – stated a police complaint in the matter. She was also threatened of dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident.
