In a city like Ahmedabad where there are limited scopes of widening the existing roads to cater the need of future vehicular population, swanky and multipurpose flyovers seems the best option, believes the authority of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Keeping this in mind, civic chief Mukesh Kumar has proposed a three-layer flyover connecting it two places of the city.

AMC is putting a lot of money into giving a world-class infrastructure to the city. For the proposed two swanky flyovers, the civic body has already announced the investment of Rs 20 crore in the next fiscal.

"Growing traffic is one of the biggest challenges any city is facing which needs to be addressed with smart solutions. The infrastructure projects in a smart city like ours will be compatible with the mega city status too. Such state of art projects are planned for finding a permanent solution for the traffic projects," said Mukesh Kumar, municipal commissioner, AMC.

Giving more details about the upcoming three layer flyovers at Nehrunagar and Paldi, deputy municipal commissioner Mukesh Gadhvi said, "The two spots faces highest traffic flow during the pick hours. Moreover, this area connects commuters to the Kalupur railway station and Geeta Mandir state transport terminus. Many of the time in traffic snarl, people gets stuck and miss their other mode of transportation like rail or bus." "The proposed three-layer flyovers at Paldi and Nehrunagar are connected and an alleviated way starting from Jamalpur to Kalupar will make a way for all vehicles to run smoothly from SG Highway to Kalupur," remarked Gadhvi.
