Swine flu toll in the state rose to 93 on Wednesday with two more patients succumbing to the H1N1 virus.

The state health department said in a release that two seasonal flu patients had died during treatment today. However, it did not specify the places the patients belonged to.

It also said that 96 fresh swine flu cases were reported in the state today, taking the number of cases since January 1 to 2,914.

The number of swine flu cases in Ahmedabad city touched 878 today with 21 more cases being confirmed.According to health department data, 19 cases were reported in Surat city, nine in Anand, eight each in Vadodara city and Mehsana, five in Bhavnagar city, and three in Patan.

Two cases were confirmed in Sabarkantha, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Ahmedabad rural, Banaskantha, Botad, Aravalli, and Valsad, while one-one case came to light in Rajkot city, Gandhinagar, Amreli, Gandhinagar city, Bharuch, Panchmahal, and Mahisagar.

The release said that 767 patients are undergoing treatment, while 2,054 have recovered so far. As of february 24, Gujarat has reported third highest number of swine flu cases and second in terms of death.
