Airports Authority of India has roped in students from the HL College of Commerce to monitor and collect data from the toll booth near the city's airports.

A team of seven students, which was deployed at the toll booth from Thursday midnight, will keep a record of the number and types of vehicles passing by.

"We have two projects related to the airport. In the toll booth project, the airports' authority wants to ascertain what types of vehicles come to airport and the time taken at the booth," said Dr Parag Shah, professor of Statistics, HL College of Commerce.

"Depending on the data, different booths might be created for private and public vehicles. Seven students will work on the project for 48 hours in different shifts. They have been given shifts of 12 hours and after the project, we will collect an extensive data and submit to airport officials," he added.

"Once this project is over, the students will make an analysis of passengers flying with different airline companies, their preferences and reasons for choosing a particular airline. The project will start in October and we will cover the domestic and international airport," he added.
