To make the riverfront a perfect entertainment destination, the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (SRFDCL) has decided to start two new adventure rides, zip-lining and para-sailing.

Scheduled to start in next few months, zip-lining will enable a person to experience an aerial rope slide and move across the other parts of the river covering a distance of 350 metre. “The ride will be available on both sides of the river and a person can slide to and from the river. The length of the zip-line will be 350 metre and the height will be nearly 17 to 20 metre,” said an official of SRFDCL, requesting anonymity.

Speaking to dna, executive director of the corporation, M Thennarasan, said: “We have finalised the area near the Sardar Bridge behind NID for zip-lining activity. The construction work is nearing completion and we will hold a trial within 20 days.” Though the corporation has not yet finalised the rates for the thrill ride, it is expected to charge around Rs400 to 450 per person.

Interestingly, like boating near the Nehru bridge, the ride will be operational throughout the year even during monsoon or low water levels. It may be noted that due to theft of iron bars two months back the construction and installation of the tower for zip-lining was delayed.

Besides usual entertainment rides, the corporation also plans to start para-sailing near the Dadhichi bridge and the proposal for the same has been approved, said an official of the corporation.
