Soldier, three militants killed in Kashmir during anti-terror op

Three militants and an army soldier were killed and a civilian was injured in a counter-terror operation in Aglar Kandi village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday evening. At the time of going to press, the encounter was still on, said army sources.

Police said the encounter started after security forces received a tip-off about the presence of the militants in the village. A joint column of army and police launched the operation. However militants opened fire in which one soldier was killed.

“An Army man martyred in the encounter. One person injured in the cross firing. Encounter is going on”, said a police spokesman.

Clashes rocked the area prompting the authorities to suspend the mobile internet services in the south Kashmir district.

This is second time in last two days when security forces have suffered fatality in the Pulwama district. On Saturday, terrorists carried two back to back attacks on the Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday leaving one cop dead and another injured in the districts of Pulwama and Shopian in south Kashmir region.
