Mercury dropped marginally in Ahmedabad on Thursday, a day after the city recorded the highest temperature of the season. However, the slight relief was not enough to provide any comfort from the heat. Ahmedabad recorded maximum temperature of 42.5 degree Celsius that was almost two degrees less than that on Wednesday.

Kandla airport recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 43.8 degree Celsius. The weatherman said low intensity westerly to northwesterly winds will blow in the state on Friday. The maximum temperature will be around 40-44°C in north Gujarat region, Kutch and in parts of Saurashtra for the next two days.

The sky will remain clean and dry in Ahmedabad on Friday. The maximum temperature will remain around 43 degree Celsius. The minimum will hover around 27 degree Celsius.

"There was little relief. I could roam without feeling exhausted on Thursday. I think the temperature was relatively lower than what I'd experienced over last three days. We need more tree cover," said Sanjay Prasad, a resident of Maninagar.
