Rear Admiral Sanjay Roye took over the reins of the Gujarat, Daman and Diu Naval Area from Rear Admiral Sandeep Beecha, as its third Flag Officer Commanding Gujarat Naval Area (FOGNA), at a ceremonial parade held at its headquarters on Monday.

Prior to this appointment, he was serving as the Project Director (Operations and Training) at Advance Technology Vessel Project headquarters at New Delhi. He had joined the NDA in 1983 and was commissioned in the Indian Navy in 1986. A recipient of the coveted ‘Binoculars’ and ‘CNS Gold Medal’ for being adjudged the ‘Best All-round Cadet’ and ‘First in Order of Merit’ during cadet’s and midshipman training respectively, he has commanded Indian Naval Submarines Sindhurakshak, Sindhuraj and Chakra.

FOGNA is responsible to the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command for all naval operations in Gujarat Daman and Diu Naval Area, security of its coast and Offshore Development Areas.
